Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World shares the same source of inspiration as City and Its Uncertain Walls, and most certainly shares similar themes. The novels, in essence, are couplets, and in reading only one and not the other, the reader will miss critical points of the novels that will only enhance the reading experience.
